Built by someone who needed this.

The story behind Dyslexia.ai and Lexy.

Why Lexy Exists

I'm Kevin Murphy, a dyslexic computer scientist and developer from Dublin, Ireland. I was diagnosed with dyslexia at age 7. I remember the frustration of feeling like my brain worked differently from everyone else's — and the shame of struggling with something others found easy.

Lexy is the tool I wish I'd had. Not a clinical program. Not a corporate EdTech product. Just a patient, warm, genuinely encouraging companion that meets learners exactly where they are — and celebrates every single win, no matter how small.

I started building Dyslexia.ai in 2018 as a solo project. Seven years later, it's used by over 10,000 learners in 120+ countries and 164+ schools. It's bootstrapped, ad-free, and privacy-first — because children's data should never be a product.

This has never been about building a business. It's about building something that helps. Every feature, every design decision, every line of code serves one question: does this help a dyslexic learner read better?

Evidence-Based Methods

Lexy uses Orton-Gillingham multisensory structured literacy — the gold standard, backed by decades of research.
